R-TECH Group’s materials testing facilities at Testing House in Port Talbot provide one of Europe’s largest ranges of commercially available mechanical testing equipment.
Materials can be tested across a wide range of scales – from the thickness of a human hair up to 50mm diameter reinforcing steel – using advanced, software-controlled systems, supported by a full suite of temperature and humidity-controlled environments, enabling accurate assessment under a range of conditions.
All testing is carried out under UKAS accreditation, providing confidence in the accuracy, consistency and reliability of results.
R-TECH Group was established in 2002 as R-Tech Services Ltd, initially focused on independent UKAS accredited testing for the reinforcing steel sector. Building on strong expertise in steel manufacturing and testing, this remains a core part of the business today.
In 2007, R-Tech Consultants Ltd was formed to deliver materials investigation services, specialising in failure analysis and plant integrity across sectors including petrochemical, power and process industries. Both businesses were brought together under the R-TECH Materials brand in 2012, alongside relocation to the current Testing House facility in Port Talbot and the introduction of UKAS accredited polymer and composite testing.
We have has also been supported by Welsh Government and European funding programmes, enabling continued investment in facilities, equipment and capability, with R-TECH Group now recognised for its expertise in testing, analysis and consultancy across a wide range of materials and industries.
