Materials performance for automotive innovation

The automotive sector is evolving rapidly – from electric vehicles and hydrogen systems to advanced composites and autonomous technologies. At R-TECH Group, we provide accredited testing and analysis to support materials used across modern automotive applications.

Our work spans polymer, composite and metallic materials, helping manufacturers develop, validate and improve components with confidence.

Our in-house testing, analysis and characterisation capabilities provide a complete service for automotive materials development and validation.

Our automotive services

01

Component and materials testing

Independent testing of automotive components and materials to verify performance, durability and compliance.

02

Environmental and fatigue testing

Assessing material behaviour under real-world conditions, including temperature extremes and repeated loading.

03

Materials characterisation

Detailed analysis of polymers, composites and metals to understand structure, behaviour and performance.

04

Failure analysis

Investigation of component and material failures to identify root causes and improve future performance.

05

Materials consultancy and R&D

Support with material selection, product development and research programmes to accelerate innovation.

Advanced testing for modern automotive materials

We operate a UKAS accredited laboratory with extensive capabilities across composite, polymer and metallic materials.

Our facilities support high-capacity static testing, fatigue testing in tension and flexure, including biaxial extensometry and environmental testing from -70°C to +250°C. With extensive UKAS accredited scope in composite testing and recent investment in this capability, we provide reliable data to support the development of lightweight, high-performance materials increasingly used across the automotive sector.

Supporting development across automotive systems

We work with clients across a wide range of automotive applications, including:

  • Suspension and steering
  • Battery and hydrogen systems
  • Bodywork and corrosion
  • Interior components
  • Safety systems
  • Chassis
  • Engines and fuel systems

Alongside testing, our consultancy team provides guidance on material selection, manufacturing processes and product performance. By combining testing, analysis and expertise, we help reduce risk, improve reliability and shorten time to market for new and evolving automotive technologies, working alongside and complementing in-house engineering and development teams.

We also support research and development programmes, helping clients accelerate the development and validation of new materials and technologies.
